Focus RS MK2 RS370 Cold Air Induction System

GGR Carbon Fibre Cold Air Induction System

All Mk2 2008 onwards Ford Focus models (apart from ST), now use essentially the same air filter box whether they running a 1.6-litre diesel or a 2.5-litre turbo petrol engine. The new RS model does have an additional cold air feed pipe to the airbox, but even this is shrouded where it emerges within the casing.

Our testing showed that the low flow capacity of the standard airbox would create a serious performance compromise.

In addition to the actual air box problems, the flexible feed pipe that links up to the intake ‘cross over’ pipe has a tendency to collapse inwards under hard acceleration, further restricting air flow into the engine, and highlighting the restrictive nature of the standard design.

The direct replacement, GGR CAIS has a fresh air pick up almost 100% larger than the original, feeding through a large volume inlet directly into the body, which is produced from a single piece of high quality carbon fibre. The air then flows through a high flow K&N cone filter element, which fixes to a CAD designed spun aluminium bellmouth, which is specially designed to efficiently channel air into the triple layer silicone outlet pipe.

(The outlet hose is offered in a choice of colours including Ultimate Green, Performance Blue and Polar White. More colours are available on request.)

In practical terms, the reduced restriction of the GGR CAIS results in significant improvements in throttle response, even on an otherwise standard car. As power levels increase, the ability to flow more air into the engine becomes an even greater benefit.
